Oprah to Launch Weekly Podcast, Will Interview Oprah’s Book Club Authors

Oprah Winfrey is expanding her presence in the podcast sphere.
Winfrey’s Oprah’s Book Club invites fans to listen to the TV personality, 70, in conversation with select book club authors in The Oprah Podcast. The weekly podcast will feature Winfrey interviewing one Book Club author each month, with other episodes including discussions with “leaders, global newsmakers, best-selling authors, visionaries and cultural changemakers,” per a press release.
“Connecting with people about what matters to us in this moment, so we can all continue to reach our highest, truest potential is what I’m most interested in offering at this time in my life,” Winfrey, who also hosts Oprah’s Super Soul podcast, said.
The new podcast, which will launch 28 years after the first Book Club segment aired on The Oprah Winfrey Show, will be produced with partner Starbucks.
“It is the perfect opportunity to bring together readers around things we both love: books, coffee and conversation,” she said.

The podcast launched on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with a conversation between Small Things Like These author Claire Keegan and Winfrey.
“To know that Oprah Winfrey took pleasure in reading my book is the most exquisite compliment, which will last my lifetime,” said Keegan.
“To be told that she has also recommended it for others to read and has chosen this novel for her book club is a tremendous honor,” added the author. “May her wonderful book club encourage people into reading for years and years to come.”
Starbucks will present the Book Club episodes of the podcast, and the author interviews will be filmed in Starbucks cafes. Winfrey and Keegan’s conversation was hosted at the Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building store in New York City.
The partnership will offer an official Starbucks beverage paired with each conversation. The initial collaboration will feature the Starbucks Christmas Blend.
