18 Bestselling Authors on the Romance Books that Get Love Right
This book is a joy, every time, and it makes me cry, every time, which is what I look for in love (in art, as in life). I find the protagonist, Billie, kind of a pain in the ass, and her lover, Francis, a different kind of pain in the ass, but together, they are so wrong-headed and mismatched and so in love that I feel for them. I shake my head (hard) over them, and I root for them, even as I look forward to their affair ending. This book, hilarious, compassionate, and clear-eyed, is one of my favorite books about love, ever. (And if you get hooked on Colwin, check out Shine On, Bright and Dangerous Object next).
