A beloved Georgia bookstore has received a national spotlight, earning a spot on Southern Living’s list of “7 Bookstores Every Book Lover Should Visit, According to Southern Authors.”
The Southern Living list highlights standout independent bookstores across the region, each recommended by well-known Southern writers.

According to the magazine, Charis Books & More, previously located in Atlanta, stands out in this list.
Now located in Decatur in partnership with Agnes Scott College, Charis Books has been a part of the metro Atlanta area’s literary scene for over 50 years.
Since its founding in 1974, it’s gained a reputation as a local fixture for thoughtful recommendations, author events, and its selection of books.
“Charis Books & More is America’s oldest continuously operated feminist bookstore,” New York Times author Tayari Jones said. “Their on-site events are legendary as they host new writers, local writers, and global heavy-hitters alike.”
