With the start of summer, it’s time to think about summer writing. Need to jump start your practice?
The WVU Humanities Center invites WVU faculty, staff and students to virtually participate in a fun, engaging professional development workshop, “What Every Writer Can Learn from Romance Novels,” Tuesday (May 11) at 3 p.m.
Led by author Amy Jo Burns, you will learn tips and tricks for creative writing, narrative writing and resourceful ideas for any kind of writing.
Are you thinking about writing like a first date? You want to woo, not overwhelm. What is the difference between a formula and a framework? Want readers to fall in love with your work? Well, there may be someone who needs to fall for it first.

Amy Jo Burns is a Cornell University graduate and the author of Cinderland, a memoir, and Shiner, a novel. Her writing has appeared in Elle, Good Housekeeping, Tin House, The Paris Review Daily, Electric Literature, Literary Hub and the anthology Not That Bad.
